High Performance, Low Footprint

Scanpan’s cast aluminum lines are made with a recycled aluminum core, something we’re proud to say we’ve been doing since the first day we started making cookware. In fact, the very first pans we crafted were made of recycled metal scraps from WWII. These days, we source our recycled aluminum alloy from facilities in Norway and Sweden, who recycle scrap metals from soda cans, license plates, and other aluminum products that would otherwise end up in a landfill. 100% of the aluminum in our cookware is recycled.

Building best-in-class cookware is our number one priority, so we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that the recycled aluminum we purchase is exactly the right alloy to deliver superb heat distribution in our finished cookware. This usually requires blending a small percentage of virgin metal material in with the recycled aluminum when it is processed to guarantee that the final material meets our uncompromising quality requirements. At the end of the day, our products are made from anywhere between 93-96% recycled metal on average, keeping our quality standards high and our environmental footprint low. Recycled aluminum creates less waste and requires significantly less energy to produce than extracting virgin aluminum from the earth, limiting our overall resource consumption significantly.
